**Who we are**
Australia’s National Botanic Gardens (ANBG) is the nation’s largest living collection of Australian native plants. It’s a tranquil setting for walking and spending time with family and friends, and a living classroom for visitors of all ages. The Gardens play a significant role in the conservation and propagation of rare and threatened plants. Our biodiversity science programs-the Australian Biological Resources Study, the Centre for Australian National Biodiversity Research, the National Seed Bank - and Biodiversity Informatics-are partnerships for research, for management of physical and digital biological collections, and for management of fundamental national biodiversity data and information and are accessed nationally and internationally.

The Business Development Team is responsible for the fiscal management and reporting at the Australian National Botanic Gardens. They also manage commercial operations on the site and all major property services contracts. The Business Development Manager also oversees the visitor services functions of the Gardens.

**The Job**
Under the limited direction of the Business Development Manager, you will provide financial services support including:

- budget development, monitoring, forecast and management
- preparation of journals and end of month processing including end of month accrual pack
- interpretation of financial policies and procedures
- providing a full range of accounts payable and receivable services including banking and revenue reporting
- undertaking procurement and contract management activities in line with legislation, Agency Chief Executive Instructions, policies and Commonwealth Procurement Rules
- developing and streamlining business management systems and processes
- assisting with the management of general office services.

**What we are looking for**

**Knowledge and experience**
- Demonstrated ability with finance services including but not limited to; budget processes, management accounting reports, accrual account and end of month processes.
- Demonstrated experience in the delivery of an accurate and timely accounts payable/receivable services.
- Demonstrated ability to carry out complete planning activities for their own work including assigning work, setting priorities, monitoring workflows and maintaining high standards to achieve outcomes and deadlines in a fast-paced and changing environment.
- Demonstrated experience and an understanding of the procurement process in the Australian Government in line with relevant legislation (PGPA Act) and the Commonwealth Procurement Rules.
- Highly proficient use of MS Office programs, records management systems and financial management programs/processes (SAP or TechOne would be an advantage).

**Skills and capabilities**
- Ability to produce clear reports and correspondence.
- Ability to evaluate issues to identify business improvements and use judgement when dealing with complex problems/sensitive issues.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Liaising effectively with the community, department staff and external stakeholders.
