The Tech DM will leverage their broad expertise across modern Agile and Software Engineering practices to teach, mentor and guide their team towards fulfilling the team’s mission, planning and delivering towards (quarterly) objectives, key results and making a significant contribution towards realizing the Enterprise Technology strategy and vision._
- As a Delivery Manager_
- _Ensure the team is an engaged and effective delivery partner with their business. Ensure the team has clear alignment in between their work and our business Objectives and Key Results (OKR’s)._
- _Work with the Product Owner and the team in managing and meeting delivery expectations in and around (quarterly) planning and prioritization activities._
- _Guide and support the team in maintaining a healthy backlog of work including technical debt_
- As a Technology Expert_
- _Be a change agent and ambassador for emerging Engineering best practices._
- _Accountable for all technology elements of the business aligned products and services._
- _Ensure the team understands & follow our architectural and design guardrails._
- _Ensure the team builds & leverages automation effectively across our end-to-end delivery processes and the solutions offered to our business._
- _Ensure the team meets our expectations for managing technical debt and non-functional requirements._
- _Ensure the team embeds the use of engineering best practices e.g., code reviews, unit testing, performance testing, security, design patterns etc._
- _Guide the team towards minimizing the impact of our deployment and release management processes including resolving technical incidents that effect our business, with a keen focus on learning to improve product quality and stability._
- _Design and implement engineering health metrics, to ensure we establish and maintain best-in-class engineering practices._
- As an Agility Expert_
- _Be a change agent and ambassador for emerging Agile best practices and culture._
- _Establish an operating rhythm that is owned and facilitated by the team (e.g., daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint review/showcase, sprint retrospectives)._
- _Create opportunities and space for learning, development and innovation._
- _Leverage empiricism to reveal insights into the team’s performance and cultivate a culture for continuous improvement e.g., burn down chart, velocity, cumulative flow. _
- _Promote a healthy and sustainable pace of work in the team._
- In order to be successful, you will require the following:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field (preferred)
- Multiple years of hands-on software development experience
- Certified Professional Scrum Master or equivalent
- Multiple years of hands-on software development experience
- People management experience
- Experience with cloud-based technologies and services
- Experience & knowledge about CI/CD pipelines & delivery
- Familiarity with insurance software or financial systems (preferred)
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of the industry and related products.
- JIRA and Confluence Proficiency is desirable.
