**About the role**
Ballarat Health Services, comprises of the Base Hospital (221 beds), Queen Elizabeth Centre (sub-acute care - 70 beds) and Psychiatric Services (67 beds). Ballarat Health Services is a major training site for the University of Melbourne and Deakin Rural Clinical Schools.

Ballarat Health Services (BHS) is the principal referral hospital for the Grampians Region Palliative Care Team. There are nine other health services covering the region, plus three hospital auspice and one stand-alone community based palliative care program. Our mission is to deliver fully integrated regional health services which maximise care, compassion, individual choice and quality outcomes. The Grampians Regional Palliative Care Team is committed to this approach and will work with all regional health providers to achieve this end.

**Key Responsibilities**
- The Medical Specialist in Palliative Care will work closely with the Palliative Care Team Nurses and Palliative Care Co-ordinators across the region.
- Assist in the ongoing development and delivery of effective inpatient and community based palliative care services.
- Clinical management of inpatient unit patients and the supervision of and adequate documentation of their care in palliative care ward, and in the regional consultative team
- This role will include elements of education, collaborative strategic planning, preparation of written materials, policies and procedures, quality improvement processes, and patient consultation.
- Deliver an appropriate level of Consultant Specialist Services consistent with the GHS Strategic and Clinical Service Plans for patients with Palliative Medicine needs.
- Provide leadership in achieving and upholding the Grampians Health Services Mission, Vision and Objectives.

**Skills and experience**
- MBBS or equivalent degree enabling registration with AHPRA.
- Medical registration in the State of Victoria and holding Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, Fellowship of the Australasian Chapter of Palliative Medicine or equivalent where other qualifications are recognized by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians as equivalent.

**How to apply**
