We're looking for a talented Researcher to join our rapidly growing product team. We're all about sweating the details on delightful experiences, tackling ambitious design challenges, and delivering customer value. We're looking for someone who can identify and drive impactful discovery research projects across our product teams. You'll work closely with other researchers on the team, designers, and product managers to help us make informed decisions and shape the products to work for a diverse range of users.
Dovetail is a small but rapidly growing team. We're looking for someone who can work across the end-to-end research process - from recruitment, incentive management, and most importantly help us manage our own Dovetail research repository.
**What you will do**
- **Drive impactful discovery research projects across our products.** You'll use a variety of research methodologies to help us understand our users, their needs, and opportunities for us to grow our products. You'll work closely with designers, product managers, and engineers, to influence our roadmaps and get involved in ideating solutions.
- **Identify opportunities for research.** We don't know what we don't know You'll help the team identify areas where research will have impact, and have an opinion on priority and approach.
- **Help the team understand the customer.** One of our company values is to 'put the customer first', and by nature of what we're building at Dovetail, our team is highly engaged in research and understanding the customer. You'll help facilitate this understanding by getting the team involved in research, and creating rituals to help them engage with customers. For example, customer panels, customer visits, co-design sessions, research brownbags, etc.
- **Own our own research repository and research operations process.** Of course we use Dovetail Our research repository is an important asset for team members to discover customers insights. We're a small team and we do our own research operations. You'll be responsible for handling your own recruitment, scheduling, NDA management, incentives, etc.
- **Help us understand feedback from various channels.** We get great customer feedback through our Slack community, support channels, in-product feedback, NPS responses, and social media. We've created a process for understanding themes every quarter, but we're always trying to make this more efficient and get the product teams involved.
- **Support designers and product managers in delivering evaluative research.** Our designers and product managers are responsible for running their own research projects to evaluate their designs. You'll support them by providing advice, creating templates and other reusable materials, and assisting with the research operations process where necessary.
- **Work with the designers to continually evolve our research artefacts.** Including personas, journey maps, customer needs as our customer base evolves.

**Your background**
- **Strong research experience.** Experience working as a professional researcher working with sophisticated, modern cloud software.
- **Experience with a variety of research methodologies.** You're able to identify the most appropriate methodology given the learning goals. You have experience with generative research, usability testing, surveys, benchmarking, affinity mapping, journey mapping, facilitation, and more.
- **Comfortable working across the research process.** Including recruitment, scheduling, NDA management, incentives, etc.
- **Experience collaborating with other roles.** You have experience working with adjacent roles such as designers, product managers, and engineers, as well as an understanding of all roles involved in the product development process and how each role adds value to the business (e.g. marketing, support, revenue).
- **Excellent communication.** Skilful, concise communication is key so you can communicate insights and recommendations to the team. Be able to convey your opinions and feelings with other teammates, founders, and customers. Honest, thoughtful, and transparent communication is critical to our success as a business.
- **Attention to detail.** You have a high quality bar and will constantly enhance the experience for customers, particularly in your research operations process.
