**The role**

ECH Social Programs promote independence by providing opportunities for social participation and meaningful pursuits to older people who are socially isolated and/or living with Dementia.

This opportunity is on a casual basis, providing coverage for planned leave and also unpanned leave across our Social Program sites in Smithfield and Walkerville. This means that while there are generally no regular shifts rostered, you will be the first person we will call if we need someone on short notice.

**What you’ll be doing**

The person filling this role will support clients by:

- Assisting participants to engage in meaningful activities, reflecting their individual preferences
- Joining the weekly bus trips, to be on hand to provide assistance where needed
- Contribution to the planning and implementation of weekly social program activities designed to maintain dignity, skills and health
- Providing personal care assistance where needs are identified whilst also enabling clients independence and choice.
- Provision of meals for participants including preparation, serving and clean up.
- Electronically document and report on participant attendance and experiences along with Identifying client changes in care and escalate to Senior Activity Lead

***We’re looking for someone who has**:

- A demonstrated genuine commitment to helping older ageing people retain their independence so they can remain at home in the community
- An understanding of the physical/social/emotional/cultural needs of older people, including those living with Dementia
- Enthusiasm, and a willingness to share ideas

**You will need**
- Exemplary communication skills
- The ability to be adaptable and flexible around client needs
- A current driver’s license and reliable vehicle
- COVID-19 vaccination (including booster, if eligible)

***It’d also be helpful if you had**:
A **CURRENT **Police Check
- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Aged Care, Leisure and Health, Disability or equivalent
- Similar experience in a residential or community setting
- Current First Aid Certificate incl CPR
