Your role at St John of God Midland Hospital

The Facilities Manager is responsible for the functions of the Facilities Management Department to ensure that buildings, plant, equipment and grounds within the Division are safe, properly maintained and compliant with relevant statutory regulations and legislation. This includes planned and preventive maintenance & engineering functions, facilities team caregivers and contractors, hospital vehicles and oversight of routine Capital and refurbishment projects. The Facilities Manager also oversees the divisional environmental sustainability program.

The Position- Ensure an up to date inventory of all items of plant and equipment records of equipment is maintained.- Develop and manage planned and preventative maintenance (PM) schedules.- Develop routine capital budgets and programs for major replacement or renovations for such items such as buidings, ground, plan and equipment- The management of computerised works management system, development and currency of maintenance programs, PM and Repair work order completion, record keeping and ensuring timely turnaround on work orders.- The management and maintenance of essential and non-essential equipment and emergency systems, including emergency lights, standby generating sets, fire alarm system, cardiac arrest system, duress system etc.- Management of the Building Management System (BMS).- Assist Facilities caregivers where needed either with expertise or additional resources to complete work at hand.- Develop on-call rosters equitably and with regard to the health and safety of the on-call caregivers. Keeping work areas and plant rooms clean and safe, and conduct regular quality and safety- Provide necessary training to caregivers in operational procedures and processes.- Supervision of Facilities caregivers and contract labour, ensuring caregivers within the portfolio have performance development plans, where they are held accountable for meeting expectations and agreed goals that are reviewed at least annually- Ensure that the Hospital/s and related buildings, grounds, plant and equipment are adequately maintained.- Review and update annually the Asset Management Plan- Participate in clinical root case analysis of adverse patien care event related to engineering servicesEnsure compliance with work programs and regulaions, SJGHC Group and hospital policies, building regulations, local authority by-laws, health, safety and welfare regulations, fire regulations.- Ensure provision of cost effective maintenance services, in line with budget.- Develop strong, collegiate relationships with other hospital managers- Lead St John of God Health Care’s commitment to responsible environmental stewardship in the Facilities Department and supporting the organisational Environmental goals in performance of all duties.

Position Requirements

You will hold a trade qualification and/or significant Facility Management experience with working knowledge of all trades, e.g. mechanical, plumbing, steam, air conditioning and refrigeration, carpentry, electrical and electronic controls, in all aspects of hospital equipment and facilities. You will have well developed resources management skills including human, financial and physical resources, with the ability develop strong collegiate relationships with other managers and to foster external stakeholder relationships to the benefit of the Hospital.

To succeed you will have highly developed communication skills to communicate effectively with all customers and patients, including the ability to develop stakeholder partnerships and to establish and maintain reliable networks. You will have the ability to record information and prepare quality written reports such as maintenance programs.
