**Every Child Needs Someone. So Does Every Family.**
The Department of Child Safety, Seniors and Disability Services currently have permanent entry-level Child Safety Officer (CSO) roles across Queensland.
At the Department of Child Safety, Seniors and Disability Services, we have a statutory responsibility to protect children where no one else can, setting us apart from every other organisation in Queensland. Our work is complex and our industry is ever-changing, but you don’t need to be a superhero or a saint to make an impact here. What you do need is the compassion, positivity and resilience to keep going, because what you’ll be a part of here is life changing.
Based in a Child Safety Service Centre (CSSC), you will work closely with other CSOs reporting to, and supported by, your Senior Team Leader. You will collaborate with Child Safety Support Officers (CSSOs) and Cultural Practice Advisors (CPAs) in your CSSC to ensure children and young people’s safety across your region.
Join us as a Child Safety Officer and provide vital frontline support and advocacy for at-risk children in your community.
**What if it’s You?**
As a CSO, you will be responsible for delivering statutory child protection services including assessment, intervention, casework, and case management in accordance with legislation and practice guidelines. You’ll work across the whole child protection continuum to provide support and advocacy for children and young people. In this diverse and rewarding role, you’ll make an impact by:
- Working collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team to provide integrated child protection practices including intake, assessment, intervention, casework, and complex case management;
- Committing to ongoing cultural capability development by engaging in self-directed learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, and contributing to a culturally safe and inclusive workplace;
- Maintaining accurate case records in line with departmental policies, statutory responsibilities, and the child protection practice framework; and
- Using evidence-based practices and actively participate in continuous learning, training, and professional development to stay updated on contemporary practices

We all wish our jobs weren’t needed. That would mean we’ve achieved our goal: that every child in Queensland is safe and cared for. But as long as we’re needed, our people will show up. And what incredible people they are.
We’re all unique and come from diverse backgrounds, but here’s some common sentiments you’ll hear about a career with us:
- **Are you generally a positive person?**
An optimistic, can-do attitude really helps here. Just ask XXX
- **Are you able to adapt if things don’t go to plan?**:
- Here, we expect the unexpected. That means being flexible, agile and resilient, whatever comes our way. XX knows this better than anyone. XX
- **Are you independent but also ready to ask for help when you need it? **There are plenty of tough cookies in our team. But we all know that “it takes a village”. And together, we get through the tough times and enjoy the good ones. As part of our XX, XX has experienced first-hand how working with great people can lift you up and keep you strong.
