The primary purpose of this role is to design, deliver, and advise on appropriate, timely and cost
- effective injury management strategies to promote early recovery and durable return to health, independence, and work for injured claimants.
About the role
- Collaborate with claims operations and treatment providers to develop strategies for reducing the human and financial costs to AAL through structured injury management practices, ensuring adherence to relevant legislative requirements
- Establish and maintain provider management strategies and relationships to enable support to the business and make recommendations regarding contractual arrangements that are negotiated for optimal cost and service to AAL and best health outcomes for the injured claimants and the relevant scheme
- Develop claim specific initiatives to improve outcomes for claimants and scheme liability management
- Implement injury management strategies within the team and business units to ensure the continuous improvement of return to health, independence, and work outcomes in compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Provide expertise advice and guidance to support claims consultants with managing motor vehicle accident-related injuries and conditions, coordinating activities with key stakeholders to facilitate the successful management of injured employees with their return to work.
- Build capability by coaching and mentoring teams on injury management methodology to reduce the duration / cost of claims and assist Technical Specialists and Team Leaders to provide team support and assistance in medical and injury management.

About you
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/ or industry accreditations
- Extensive experience in injury management relating to occupational rehabilitation, claims management and/or return to work
- Understanding of relevant regulatory and/or legislative compliance requirements that impact the organisation
- Manage key/complex contract negotiations to ensure favourable commercial and financial conditions for AAL, whilst ensuring mutual agreement between parties is achieved
- Able to identify, analyse, and assess risks inherent to the business and put in place appropriate controls / actions to manage the risks for future sustainability
- Demonstrated understanding of strategy development and can work with multiple teams to align department strategy with organisational vision, translating vision to action to achieve desired results
- Demonstrated evidence of technical proficiency with safety management and/or claims management systems
