**About the role**
We currently have a unique opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of others. Reporting to the Coordinator Tenancy and Accommodation, the primary purpose of the Case Worker, AOD is to provide education, case management and resources aimed at preventing and reducing the impact of alcohol and other drug use. This role will develop and deliver educational programs, workshops, and seminars that inform service users, community and other professionals about the risks associated with substance use, effective coping strategies, and available support services, based across our Mirrabooka and West Perth locations.
Collaboration is key and this unique role provides assessment, group facilitation, individual informal counselling and coaching of staff through education and strategies in harm minimisation. Along with managing a small case load the role is focused on creatively embedding developed materials and resources across MercyCare’s youth residential teams.
**About you**
You’ll have an in-depth knowledge in drug and alcohol and a background working with young people. With a love of educating and empowering others you’ll be flexible and adaptable, have excellent interpersonal skills and an innate ability to instil trust and connection effectively whilst encouraging inclusion, partnering with others to make an impact. You’ll also have:
- Relevant Bachelors degree, or alternately Certificate III or IV in AOD, Mental Health, Community Services or a relevant field.
- Strong experience working with young people
- Knowledge of AOD, including harm reduction, withdrawal and evidence-based strategies
- Knowledge of trauma informed practices and co-occurring mental health conditions
- Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- National Police Clearance (obtained within the last six months)
