**Role Overview**:
Lorgan is seeking an **experienced and commercially minded Metering Strategist** to contribute to a critical metering transformation initiative within the **utilities sector**. This is a **Perth-based contract role** offered for an initial **3-month period**, ideal for someone with deep expertise in **AMI strategy, policy, and regulation**, and who can quickly deliver value in a fast-moving program environment.
You will work alongside business leaders, regulatory specialists, and technical teams to refine metering strategy, inform business case development, and guide alignment with industry standards and customer needs.
**About the Role**:
This role requires someone who brings not just knowledge — but **proven strategic impact**. You will be expected to:
- Provide direction on AMI deployment approaches, with attention to commercial viability, policy compliance, and customer value.
- Contribute to internal strategy papers, program recommendations, and stakeholder engagement plans.
- Guide alignment between evolving regulatory obligations and the organisation’s operational roadmap.
- Influence metering policy outcomes while maintaining awareness of trends in the National Electricity Market (NEM) and broader energy transition.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Develop and refine AMI strategies that are responsive to regulatory, operational, and market dynamics.
- Deliver clear, insightful guidance on metering investments, customer impacts, and systems integration.
- Support governance teams with inputs into policy submissions, strategic risk assessments, and investment justification.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including regulatory, technical, and operational leads, to deliver well-informed and actionable outcomes.
**Required Skills & Experience**:
- **Australian Citizenship** or **Australian PR** is essential.
- Demonstrated experience in **strategic or advisory roles** within smart metering, AMI, or digital utilities programs.
- Deep knowledge of **AMI policies, market roles, and compliance requirements** in Australia, particularly within the NEM context.
- Strong understanding of how metering strategies support broader business objectives such as demand response, customer engagement, or cost optimisation.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills, with experience in preparing **high-quality reports, strategic frameworks, or board-level briefings**.
**Evidence of Prior Impact**:
- Contributions to **successful AMI or metering strategy development**.
- Influence over regulatory or commercial decisions.
- Tangible outcomes such as improved program direction, policy alignment, stakeholder support, or financial savings.
