**About the Role**
The Overnight Duty Medical Officer, as part of the clinical team, will provide a continuous on-site medical support service overnight (Monday to Friday 2100-0700) in consultation with the Visiting Medical Officers (VMO), Visiting Intensivist and the clinical team.
Your primary purpose will be to care for the patients that may require medical review and treatment overnight, in the absence of the VMO or in the event of an emergency to prevent further deterioration and promote positive patient outcomes.
**Key responsibilities**
- Treat and see patients at the request of the VMO or clinical staff and undertake the initial assessment, investigation and management of acutely unwell patients;
- Liaise with the patient’s responsible VMO, Physician and/or the Intensivist with respect to ongoing management as well as offering support and information to the patient’s family as required; and
- Provide immediate medical stabilisation and facilitate appropriate referral or transfer for non-inpatient emergencies.
- Provide educational support to clinical staff
**About you**
You will have a strong interest in acute surgical care and be a fully registered medical practitioner with AHPRA, PFY3 minimum.
You will have Advanced Life Support Training and experience in Anaesthetics, airway management and the High Dependency environment or similar would be advantageous.
