**About Us**
Greater Northern Community Services provides supports for adolescents and adults living with disabilities to reach their full potential. We work closely with our clients supporting them with daily self-care activities, attending appointments, and accessing the community, with a focus on encouraging and promoting active, healthy, and positive lifestyle choices.
**The Role**
We are seeking **experienced female Support Workers** for an adult participant residing in Hawthorn East, VIC, who requires **intensive, high-needs support**. The ideal support worker will have extensive experience in complex care, be confident in their skills, and be able to work a combination of day and overnight shifts.
**Supports Required**:
- Personal care, including **stoma care, catheter care, and hoist transfers**:
- Meal time management and feeding support
- Assistance with all aspects of daily living
- Companionship and emotional support
- Ability to work around pets in the home (1 dog, 2 cats)
**Participant Goals**:
- Receive support from **experienced, skilled, and confident carers**:
- Maintain consistent daily routines with a reliable care team
- Build a strong rapport and trusting relationship with support staff
**Participant Requirements (must strictly meet all)**:
- Female Support Worker
- Clear, fluent spoken English
- Comfortable working with pets in the home
- **Documented competency in high-intensity personal care supports, including stoma care, catheter care, and hoist transfers**:
- Proven experience in complex care settings
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Provide personal and domestic support as required
- Assist with daily living activities in a respectful and professional manner
- **Perform stoma care, catheter care, and hoist transfers safely and competently**:
- Support with meal preparation and feeding as per care plan
- Maintain accurate shift notes and follow NDIS requirements
- Work collaboratively as part of a rotating care team
**Work Hours**:
- Multiple shifts available across **7 days a week**:
- Shift lengths range from **2 hours** to **10.5 hours**:
- **Morning, afternoon, and evening shifts** available daily
- **Overnight sleepover shifts**: 3 nights per week, followed by a 1-hour morning shift
- Approx. **40 hours per week** available across roster
- New staff may trial shifts before permanent roster allocation
**Remuneration**
- You will be paid fortnightly.
- Rates will be competitive and based on experience and qualifications, in line with industry standards (+ Superannuation). Specific rates will be discussed with successful applicants.
**Eligibility Criteria**
- Must meet all participant preferences (see above)
- Relevant experience in disability, aged care, or individual support
- Certificate III or IV in Disability, Individual Support, or similar (highly regarded)
- **Documented competency and experience in high-intensity personal care supports, including stoma care, catheter care, and hoist transfers (mandatory)**:
- Current Working with Children Check
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Valid First Aid (HLTAID011) and CPR (HLTAID009)
- National Police Check (within last 12 months)
- Full Driver's Licence and reliable vehicle
- Must have the right to work in Australia
- Ability to relate well to the participant and foster a positive, trusting connection
**Job Types**: Casual, Subcontract
Pay: $38.00 - $40.00 per hour
