A practice located near the base of the Blue Mountains is seeking a practice manager with a positive, can-do attitude to join their practice.

This is a unique opportunity to work closely with the owner/director. The role will see you responsible for the day-to-day operations, staff management, as well as some shared services across other hospitals.

This permanently staffed, 24-hour referral hospital sees a high volume of complex patients and a large variety of cases. No two days are the same Services include general practice, emergency consultation, soft-tissue and orthopaedic surgery, ultrasonography, radiology, CT, as well as client educational programs such as puppy preschool.

On any given day, you will work with a team of 4-5 veterinarians and 8-10 nursing staff. There is also a fully functioning off-site call centre offering phone support to clients during business hours, seven days per week. Overnight there is a team of 1-2 vets and 1-2 nurses dedicated to the emergency service, delivering around-the-clock veterinary care.

To succeed in this role, you must be highly organised and an expert in personnel management (an HR background is highly desirable).

Some key responsibilities of the role include:

- Liaising with the executives regarding business strategy and planning and involvement in recruitment, training and induction of new employees.
- Organising ongoing training and support for employees as required.
- Performance management.
- Attendance at CE and Employee Social Activities.
- Liaising with wholesale representatives.
- Coordinate and implement any in-hospital events, training, and system integration.
- Oversee and liaise with in-hospital program coordinators.
- Hospital equipment care and maintenance.
- Provide feedback and assistance for rostering.
- Customer service and complaint management.
- Invoice checking and weekly banking duties.
- Supporting the various units within the team as required.

The hospital is dedicated and constantly improving and evolving. The practice houses an array of equipment, including the complete suite of IDEXX in-house diagnostics, DR Digital Radiology, CR Dental Radiology, IM3 Dental machines and tools, multiple multiparameter monitors, Braun B IV fluids pumps, Digital Syringe Drivers, extensive surgical equipment, including a large amount of orthopaedic equipment (they currently do TTA Rapid cruciate surgery and fracture repairs regularly), oxygen generators, Darvall Patient Warming Blankets, video microscopy and more Computerised with RXWorks and online rostering. Hospital equipment is constantly being upgraded.

The hospital is located in greater western Sydney, at the doorstep of the Blue Mountains, less than an hour from Sydney's CBD. Take some time to ride your bike, pack a picnic or put on your walking shoes to complete the Great River Walk, which offers picturesque scenery along the Hawkesbury River. There are great transport links to the city and many affordable living options in the area.
