About the business unit
The Barwon South West Region (BSWR) provides justice services from Justice Service Centres in Geelong and Warrnambool, and through reporting centres in Colac, Hamilton, and Portland. The region has a prison precinct that currently includes three prisons, the maximum-security HM Prison Barwon and medium security Prisons - Marngoneet Correctional Centre and Karreenga.

**About the Role**:
The Justice Officer - Stores requires a strong focus on customer service, teamwork, integrity, accuracy, compliance, and timeliness. The Justice Officer - Stores is an entry-level position to a career in corporate services within the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS).
This position will require direct prisoner contact and may involve occasional weekend and public holiday work, remunerated in accordance with the applicable provision of the VPS Determination.

**Some of your duties may include**:

- Providing high quality business services related to stores and canteen for Barwon, Marngoneet and Karreenga Prisons.
- Assisting in serving prisoners in the Prisoner Shops and updating prisoner records on SPEND
- Assisting with the ordering and processing of prisoner special spends
- Preparing stock estimates, obtain quotes, organise purchases to maintain stock levels for the Prisoner's Shops and Prison Stores, undertake regular stock-takes, maintain accurate records, and maintain the shop in good order.

**About You**:

- Proficient in the use of software and standard office equipment
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulations
- Understanding of stores and warehousing operations
- Understanding of stock management, delivery / service requirements and OH&S practices.

Qualification/Requirements
- Previous experience in inventory management/warehouse jobs would be an advantage
- A current forklift licence is desirable.
