**Diabetes Educator**
**Ongoing Position - 16 hours per week**

The Diabetes Education Team provides education and support to all women with diabetes with the aim of preventing diabetes complications.
**The role of the **Diabetes** Education Team is to**:
- Provide clinical care of all in-patients with diabetes in pregnancy, including women on the Gynaecology and Oncology wards.
- Provide clinical care for women with diabetes on an outpatient basis through outpatient clinics. This care is provided in group sessions and in one-to-one consultations/telehealth.
- Provide teaching and training activities including student lectures, staff in-services, and providing professional training for diabetes educators.
- Provide Diabetes education for women with diabetes.
- Provide and participate in quality activities and research projects to facilitate and maintain best practice particularly in Diabetes in pregnancy.
**Your contribution**
The Diabetes educator is a clinical expert who is an important member of the Diabetes Service and an integral part of the multidisciplinary TeamCare Team. With the support of the Diabetes Team, the diabetes educator provides and coordinates best practice clinical care for women having maternity care both as an outpatient and inpatient and also provides consultation to non-maternity areas at the Women’s.
Your duties will include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Providing Clinical Care for women with diabetes
- Providing Professional Support, Education and Training
- Participating in Quality Activities and Research
- Building and maintaining professional relationships
**About you**
To be successful within this role you will need to have:
- Tertiary Qualification as a Diabetes Educator
- Credentials as a Diabetes Educator or be working towards them.
- AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse Div 1 or Midwife.
- Excellent communication skills and comfort working with varied stakeholders.

**Influenza Vaccination Requirement**
In line with the Health Services Amendment (Mandatory Vaccination of Healthcare Workers) Act 2020, some health care workers are now required to have their flu vaccination to work in health care. Evidence of vaccination is required.
As this role fits into category A or B of the departments risk ratings, applicants will be required to have been vaccinated against influenza. Evidence of vaccination is required.
