Our Federal Government client is seeking an experienced
**Market Analyst **who can start in July

**About the role**:

- Identify potential competition and efficiency issues arising from the evolution of the energy market and develop potential responses
- Research, investigate and analyse relevant information to develop advice and recommendations for the department
- Prepare a range of documents for a wide audience including high quality written reports, staff papers and guideline reviews
- Contribute to the planning and management of projects in a timely and effective way, and provide staff with clear direction and supervision
- Contribute to the leadership and management of the team and provide team members and colleagues with technical guidance

**Ideally you will have**:

- An ability to investigate and analyse complex issues, including an ability to understand and engage with data, communicate findings clearly and/or make recommendations based on that analysis
- Well-developed understanding, or ability to quickly acquire an understanding of competition issues, Australian electricity and gas markets
- Working knowledge of the wholesale market and related financial contract markets
- Strong analytical and written communication skills

**Desirable**:

- Tertiary qualifications in law, economics, public policy or a related field
