**The Role**
The Migrant Skills Assessments (MSA) branch, operating as Trades Recognition Australia, is the assessing authority for a range of technical and trade occupations in support of the Government’s skilled migration program. The purpose of these assessments is to ensure that an applicant can perform at the required skill level for their nominated occupation when working in Australia.

The IT Systems & Enhancements team in the Skills Assessment and Systems Support section of MSA is responsible for managing IT systems used by the assessing authority.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
Responsibilities of the IT Business Case Specialist may include:

- Leading efforts to consult and collaborate with a large group of stakeholders, including experts in parliamentary, budget and technology teams within the department and in regulatory, financial and policy agencies across government.
- Identifying the necessary elements of a strong business case, sourcing templates and instructions/guidance, and establishing a methodical approach to ensure that each component of the business case is completed on time and to a high quality.
- Supervising a small team with expertise in business analysis, system architecture and in cost estimation, including allocating work items that will contribute to business case development and reviewing/editing completed items.
- Ensuring alignment of business cases with departmental and whole-of-government approaches and that work proceeds with necessary endorsements and approvals.
