Temporary Preschool Teacher

Barmera Kindergarten is an inclusive, welcoming and nurturing early childhood setting, situated 230kms from Adelaide in the Riverland region.

The Riverland region offers a wonderful lifestyle, with plenty of sporting activities to participate in and amazing restaurants to visit.

At Barmera Kindergarten, we pride ourselves in recognising children as competent and capable learners who are valued, respected and are co-learners alongside each other as well as educators. We value the learning environment and we require an educator who can fulfil the requirements of a large energetic setting.

As a category 1 education site, we have a big focus on ensuring quality family and community connections, and the successful applicant will need to have previous experience and connections with Aboriginal families, services and the community. Extensive experience and skills working with students with behaviour needs and disabilities is essential.

The successful applicant will need to have a deep understanding of the Early Years Learning Frameworks, and Literacy and Numeracy indicators. They will also need to demonstrate experience in programming, assessment, and reporting whilst delivering a play-based curriculum which includes intentional teaching components.

The applicant will need to have an ongoing commitment working towards the centre's Quality Improvement Plan and National Quality Standards Priorities. It will be an expectation to work in a team environment and have effective interpersonal, communication and conflict resolution skills always working professionally.

Qualifications in special education or other relevant qualifications, or equivalent experience in working with and teaching children with autism is desirable.
