This role will involve the following duties:
- Conduct research on the assigned project(s) with minimum supervision either as a member of a team or, where appropriate, independently, and the production or contribution to the production of conference and seminar papers and publications
- Building and evaluating appropriate prototypes/testbeds based on the outcomes of the research to be carried out
- Attendance at group and project meetings
- Advice within the field of research to post-graduate students in consultation with the senior researcher
**To be successful you will need**:
- Completed PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field with a demonstrated ability to conduct and publish high-quality research in distributed data-intensive systems, AI/ML, and large-scale cloud/edge/fog computing solutions.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing intelligent deployment tools, monitoring systems, and sustainability-sensitive software systems.
- Knowledge or interest in key domains, including Digital Health Care, Smart Utilities, Defence Systems, and Autonomous Transportation.
- Proficiency in programming languages and technologies such as Java, C, Python, Bash, PowerShell, or X86 Assembly, for developing prototypes and automation tools.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant postdoctoral or industry experience, with a strong background in mentoring PhD, graduate, and undergraduate students.
- Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, with the ability to contribute to a diverse and inclusive research and academic community.
**Qualifications/Desirable**:
- Proven experience in industry-collaborative research, establishing strong partnerships and addressing industry-driven challenges.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and support research teams, including PhD, graduate, and undergraduate students.
- Knowledge or interest in secure software engineering and cybersecurity, with experience in contributing to research proposals for external funding.
