Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage a Communication Officer on a contract for 12 months with potential extension.
**Position Overview**
The APS5 Communications Officer position is accountable under limited direction to perform moderately complex to complex work relating to:
- Assisting in the development of communications plans with specific objectives across different channels and segments
- Ensuring that plans and strategies integrate staff awareness and engagement into all announcements and external communication activity as appropriate.
- Creating, maintaining, and conducting analytics reporting across multiple platforms and extracting key insights for optimisation and continuous improvement
This position is accountable for organising their workflow, performing work and identifying opportunities for improvement.
They are required to make sound decisions relating to the areas of internal and external communications activity.
The position will be required to communicate with and provide advice to, a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders that supports the effective use of communication activity.
They will be responsible for providing expert advice to internal business stakeholders on the effective use of internal and external communication channels.
**Relevant duties**
- Leadership and Accountability
- Provide technical expertise that contributes to business unit outcomes.
- Develop plans and objectives for short-term tasks of the work area and contribute to strategic planning for longer-term initiatives of the section.
- Management Diversity and Span
- Conduct quality assurance activities for the outputs of lower level employees.
- Role may also be required to undertake specialist or technical research and analysis, conduct investigations and provide advice on policies and legislation.
- Assist in the management of corporate functions including human resources, property, information technology security and finances.
- Job Context and Environment
- Have a sound general knowledge of the role and functions of the agency and an understanding of how these relate to a specific work area.
- Have sound understanding of the impact of the work area on longer-term strategic, political or operational outcomes for the agency/program.
- Require awareness of changes in the broader work environment that may impact on work objectives.
- Independence and decision-making
- Work independently or under limited guidance in relation to their area of expertise. Complex or difficult issues are discussed with team leaders or experts.
- Perform objective and systematic research and analysis to obtain accurate conclusions based on evidence.
- Identify problems or issues and resolve or establish treatments to mitigate.
- Stakeholder Management
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on policy, project or operational issues.
- Respond to stakeholder needs and expectations.
- Develop and maintain internal and external relationships.
- Support internal and external networks.
**Essential requirements**
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance at a level designated by the Agency on request
- Ability to obtain and maintain national police check.
- Australian Citizenship is a condition of eligibility
