We are seeking an enthusiastic and qualified technical team lead, with operational planning and logístical expertise.

Who are you?

You take pride in developing and mentoring staff. Your strong teamwork abilities ensure you can empower and inspire the remote teams you are responsible for managing.

The prospect of short-term opportunities to travel and work in Antarctica, as well as other parts of Australia excites you. You have led or participated in Antarctic operations and have a passion for the Australian Antarctic program.

You have strong communication skills to support your field team, negotiate and manage stakeholder relationships, and leverage emotional intelligence.

Who are we?

The Sydney Operations Hub is the Bureau of Meteorology's premier technical operations centre.

Staff based at the Sydney Operations Hub travel far and wide utilising 4WD's, plane's, boats, and helicopters to maintain service delivery within the various instrumentation networks.

This includes:

- Rain Radars
- Automatic Weather Stations (AWS)
- Upper-Air monitoring systems (sounding balloons)
- Sea Level Monitoring Stations
- Wave Buoys
- Satellite ground reception and space weather instruments
- Wave height buoys
- Flood warning / rainfall monitoring systems
- Cooperative observers, volunteer rainfall stations
- Communications, telemetry and instrumentation systems

Sydney Operations Hub's immediate area of responsibility encompasses majority of NSW, Norfolk Island and Lorde Howe Island.

We are part of a national maintenance workforce and there is every likelihood of travel to other parts of Australia on occasion to support the other eight Hubs around the country.

We offer specialised, in-house competency-based training on all our equipment and will ensure you have the necessary tools and skills to undertake this work.
