**The Role**
As an EL1 Engineer, Navy Engineering are looking for high performing, experienced, professional Engineers in disciplines such as:
- Mechanical.
- Propulsion, including diesel engines, gas turbines, fuels, power transmission and related services.
- Manoeuvrability including mechanical aspects of active stabilisation.
- HVAC and refrigeration.
- Potable fresh and seawater systems, including chilled water.
- Compressed air and gas systems.
- Replenishment at sea, including fuel and cargo handling.
- Mechanical handling.
- Survivability.
- Susceptibility, including signatures and countermeasures.
- Vulnerability, including ballistic, blast and shock protection.
- Fire Safety, including fixed detection, suppression, containment and fire-fighting systems.
- Damage Control, fixed de-watering systems, hazardous materials, fire and flood response.
- Survival, including escape, evacuation and rescue.
As an EL1 Engineer, some of your key duties may include:
- Development of naval technical requirements.
- Supporting assurance activities.
- Review, analysis and interpretation.
- Provision of technical advice.
- Develop & manage teams.
**About our Team**
This is a civilian role within Navy. You will work closely alongside and support serving navy personnel, capability development, acquisition projects, and in-service support groups. The Directorate Navy Engineering (DNE) is the primary support group for the Director General Engineering Navy (DGENG-N) in the provision and retention of specialist technical and engineering maritime knowledge, products and services. As an Engineer within Defence, you will have access to generous working conditions as an Australian Public Servant.
You will be supported in balancing work life with family and other priorities, with a variety of flexible working arrangements available. You will have numerous opportunities to upskill as we have various training, development and educational opportunities available, including fully funded Masters Programs. You will also be provided with an opportunity to work across different teams and areas, along with transfer opportunities across Australia and international linkages.
