**Position Information**:
Cessnock High School has an enrolment of 662 from diverse socio-economic backgrounds (FOEI 156), consisting of 11 support classes (2 ED, 2 AU, 2 IM, 3 MC, 1 IO and suspension centre). 39% of students identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. The school works with the Korreil Wonnai AECG and has strong partnerships with local primary partner schools.

Students are supported through curriculum structures focusing on academic and social needs of the cohort. The school is dedicated to producing life-long learners and meeting the needs of each student on their individual educational pathway. Through the strategic implementation of quality teaching rounds, wellbeing and transition programs and community partnerships the school has made positive progress which has led to improved student outcomes.

**Selection Criteria**:
1. Approval to teach Primary, Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) and Sport, Lifestyle and Recreation (SLR)/Physical Activity and Sport.

2. Capacity to implement trauma informed practices and the ability to differentiate for a diverse range of learning abilities.

3. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team and effective communication skills with students, staff, care providers, and the wider school community.

4. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department’s Aboriginal Education policies.
