**The Role**
Joint Proof & Experimental Unit (JPEU) is an integral part of Explosive Ordnance Branch, Joint Logistics Command and is tasked to provide dynamic, static and environmental test and evaluation services to the Australian Defence Organisation.
JPEU is seeking dynamic and motivated staff to take on the role of Test Officer within the Environmental Test Facility (ETF). The ETF conducts non-destructive test and evaluation trials on Explosive Ordnance and associated equipment, in areas such as Climatic (simulated weather), Radiographic (X-Ray) and Vibration (shake & rattle). Staff will assist in the setup of test areas / platforms, undertake test programs, refurbish work areas and undertake non-technical inspection and maintenance of equipment. Staff work in small teams to deliver excellent outcomes for Defence and its customers. This role involves the handling of Explosive Ordnance. Employment at Port Wakefield attracts a Special Defence Locality Assistance allowance of approximately $6,300.00 per annum ($255.36 per fortnight).
**About our Team**
The ETF supports Test and Evaluation activities at the Proof and Experimental Establishment, Graytown (Vic) and Port Wakefield (SA) by conducting explosive ordnance test and evaluation trials. The ETF has capabilities enabling the climatic, non-destructive, vibration and mechanical testing of items, and other elements for artificial aging of Defence explosive ordnance.
Test Officers under the guidance of the ETF Manager and Team Leaders, are responsible for the co-ordination, set up and safe operation of equipment required to undertake testing activities. Testing undertaken requires construction of test platforms, setup of data capturing equipment, development of test jigs, compliance with test standards and work procedures. The ETF is supported by the JPEU engineering team.
The team works with exciting technology that aids in the provision of test outcomes, such as state of the art conditioning chambers (heating / cooling), vibration shakers and radiographic capabilities.
They will have a keen eye for detail, and be able to identify potential issues within the data / test setup that may affect quality of data or accuracy of data for items being tested.
