**About the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations**
We are committed to empowering futures, ensuring rights and enriching lives. We support people to have safe, secure and well-paid work with the skills for a sustainable future as we ourselves strive to be a model employer.

We provide the framework for fair and productive relationships between employers and employees. We also oversee skills development and training initiatives to support those entering the workforce or re-training to take advantage of emerging employment opportunities.

With us, your work directly contributes to shaping the employment landscape. Whether you are engaging in policy development, program implementation, or direct support services, your efforts will have a tangible impact on job seekers, employees and the economy by giving them a framework to build a future anchored and realised through employment.

It is our ambition to do things differently, to create the ‘department of great jobs’- where our people reflect our purpose.

**The Role**
The Committee Support Coordinator will be the main point of contact between the Family and Injured Workers Advisory Committee (the committee) members and the department. You will provide secretariat support to the committee and maintain regular liaison with members to facilitate the functions and objectives of the committee. In addition, you will be required to consider the complex needs of members, provide advice on supports available, and provide updates to the department on committee operations.

About the Family and Injured Workers Advisory Committee
The committee is being established to provide advice to the Commonwealth Government on the needs of people affected by serious work-related incidents.

The committee will provide advice to the Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations about the needs of people affected by workplace incidents involving death, serious injury or illness. The committee will also provide advice to Commonwealth work health and safety regulators, including Comcare, the Australian Maritime Safety Authority, and the National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority, about how they engage with people affected by serious workplace incidents.

Most committee members will have a lived experience (including as a family member or carer) of a serious workplace incident, resulting in serious injury, illness or death.
- This position is available on an ongoing basis. Future positions may be offered on an ongoing or non-ongoing basis for up to 12 months initially._

**Duties and Responsibilities**
Responsibilities of the EL1 Committee Support Coordinator may include:

- Working independently to provide a range of coordination and support services to ensure the committee can fulfil its legislative obligations.
- Acting as the point of contact for committee members and providing administrative support to the co-chairs.
- Leading secretariat support for the committee, including drafting committee papers, minutes, reports and submissions, facilitating stakeholder engagement and facilitating travel for committee members in accordance with departmental travel policies.
- Building and maintaining good working relationships with committee members, and internal and external stakeholders, including through the use of trauma informed approaches.
- Providing policy advice and advising on government processes to facilitate informed decision making and planning.
- Monitoring and reporting on strategic and operational objectives using the Workplace Relations Group’s project management framework.
- Overseeing the committee’s budget and ensuring expenses are in line with government policies.
- Overseeing and coordinating the psychological model of care for committee members and associated staff.
- Leading and coordinating policy development for matters within the section’s responsibilities where workload allows, such as the prohibition of the use of engineered stone benchtops, slabs and panels, the WHS forward agenda, and projects related to the care and support economy.

**How to Apply**
Applicants are required to provide a summary (no more than 750 words) that outlines skills, knowledge, and experience and why you should be considered for this vacancy. You should take into consideration the position overview (including any detailed position specific requirements) when drafting your response. Where possible include specific relevant examples of your work.

The APS work level standards accommodate the diversity of roles across the APS and are structured to clearly differentiate between the work expected (i.e. responsibilities and duties) at each classification level.
