We are looking for a Procurement Analyst to help implement and govern contracts for Viasat’s groundbreaking satellite networks in the Asia Pacific Region. This role will work locally in Australia and will form part of the Asia Pacific Operations team.
**Responsibilities**:
The Procurement Analyst will be partnering with our external suppliers and internal business partners to implement new and existing contracts for services, and equipment purchasing. They will structure and operate contract governance models that they will develop to maintain optimal flexibility, unmatched delivery, and availability performance. They will be reporting to the Acquisition and Procurement Manager, you will work closely with many departments including Network Engineering, Inter-carrier Management, Supply Chain, Legal, and the Program Delivery team to implement strategic acquisitions, contract variations, SLA reporting, and pricing with an overall focus on maintaining long term partner relationships and managing total cost of ownership.
Activities will include, but not be limited to:
- Buying and procurement lifecycle management including MRP analysis, PO placement, and supply reporting for assigned commodities or programs.
- Supporting commercial negotiations with Telecommunication service and equipment suppliers
- Support the establishment and operation of contract and commercial governance, reporting, and relationship management
- Communicate and assess daily issues, including engineering changes, to ensure no shortages to contract needs.
- Accountable for RFI's, RFP's and RFQ's for assigned commodities/programs.
- Negotiate and administer efficient terms with suppliers that consider, among other things, cost, quality, schedule, and supply continuity in support of unique program requirements.
- Establish and foster effective strategic supplier relationships, to ensure delivery performance and timely resolution of quality issues.
- Support the development and implementation of sourcing strategies for commodities and/or programs.
- Analyze commodity spending and evaluate the existing supply base.
- Consolidate spending across the supply base to build leverage and work with strategic sourcing to develop supply alternatives where needed.
- Provide leadership, understanding, and insight into the supply base and market for the commodities assigned, including lead times, industry trends, cost drivers, and top suppliers.
- Active participation with critical team members - ability to learn and develop strategies based on customer requirements and technology trends.
- Work toward procurement automation where possible.
- Handling supplier payment claims to ensure value for money
- Leading and implementing contract variations
- Partnering with business stakeholders, participating in team meetings, and updating senior management as required
**Requirements**:
- Experience in an entrepreneurial, high‐tech environment.
- 3+ years of confirmed ability in contract management of telecommunications products and services
- Understanding of contract management and procurement.
- Experience with commodity management.
- Analytical skills that are specific to Procurement (Supplier Performance, Cost BOMs, etc.).
- Must have excellent skills in the following areas including verbal, written, and presentation skills including the ability to present to senior managers.
- Skilled user of Microsoft Office suite of business software is required: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience presenting to senior management and program teams
- Must be an exceptional teammate, analytical and results-focused
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time
- Citizenship of Australia is required
**Preferences**
- Telecommunications, Infrastructure, Electronic, or Space / Aerospace program-related experience.
- Experience with project management, and supplier relationship management within a low volume high mixed environment.
- Experience with ERP systems, Oracle, or similar systems.
- Experience with PLM, Agile or similar preferred.
