**The team**
The Engineering and Maintenance directorate manages a $1.5 billion annual maintenance program on behalf of Sydney Trains and NSW Trains - delivering a safe, reliable passenger fleet and metropolitan rail network, to meet growing customer demand and keep Sydney moving. This role sits in the Network Maintenance team within Engineering and Maintenance. Network Maintenance delivers routine maintenance on the railway civil, signal, electrical and control system assets on the metropolitan passenger network, and co-ordinates infrastructure incident response.
The Operational Technology Unit is responsible for ensuring high availability and security of Control Systems, Wireless and Fixed voice and data networks, Condition Monitoring and Passenger Information infrastructure, the team also includes the Cyber Security Team. The unit comprises of highly skilled Technical Field Resources, Technical Specialists and Maintenance Engineers whose roles are to ensure the reliability and security of these systems are maintained and that system configuration is monitored and managed for the life of these systems.
**The opportunity**
Right now, we have an opportunity for an Operations Manager Communication Field Resources to join our Operational Technology team. In this role you will lead multiple field resource teams comprising of multi skilled technical experts to, maintenance, enable incident fault response, project and network construction delivery on Operational Technology assets in an efficient and timely manner, within budget and to required standards for safety and operations of the network.
Some key accountabilities will include:
- Lead the communication field team to ensure team leaders’ deliver on consistent objectives and act as a cohesive unit with clear and manage achievable goals.
- Drive value management, sustainable financial outcomes and network performance across the team. Develop and implement initiatives to best utilise staff resources demonstrating an efficient, productive and safe work approach.
- Lead a process of change within the unit to align with Sydney trains values with particular emphasis on compliance to workplace instructions, including safety and standards.
- Ensure that direct reports are competent and confident to perform their role and provide effective coaching and leadership to maintain high standards of staff performance and support succession planning.
**?About you**
To be successful in this role, you will have Tertiary qualifications (Degree) in Engineering / Information Technology (IT) / Telecommunications or equivalent experience. You will also bring demonstrated knowledge and a high level of operational expertise in a telecommunications environment, preferably in the rail industry. You will have previous experience in leading and managing operational technology field teams and specialist technical expertise to develop new and revised maintenance programmes, ensuring system performance meets user expectations in respect to availability, reliability, quality of service, and usability.

The salary for this position is RC Grade 7 ($154,612 - $170,111) per annum plus superannuation and annual leave loading.
