The Salvation Army Bridgehaven is an Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Residential Rehabilitation Program for Women and Women with accompanying children located in Preston.
We have exciting opportunities for values-driven and proactive Casual AOD Support Workers to provide supervision, support, and crisis intervention to women and children participants at Bridgehaven and to help maintain the functioning of the centre. We have multiple casual positions available. The position will require you to work across a number of shifts, including day shift, afternoon shift and sleepover shifts.
You will successfully
- Protect the safety and wellbeing of all participants by monitoring and managing the dynamics of participants to provide a safe and positive environment for all.
- Ensure new participants are inducted into the Bridgehaven program, ensuring a positive and engaging first experience with the program.
- Respond to all resident enquiries
- Actively participates in daily handovers and liaises with other staff as necessary to ensure required participant information is communicated.
- Ensure participant and staff security by responding to critical incidents and security concerns, as per policy and procedure.
- Ensure all electronic records are maintained and up to date
- Provide “hands on” practical support to participants to enhance living skills
- Manage participants behaviour in line with the program policies
- Assist with self-administration of medications for all participants
- Identify and respond to any likelihood or evidence of significant harm to participants or others; informing the line manager as soon as possible of any actions taken and or required.
- Participate in group facilitation
- Transport and support participants with external appointments.
- Organise a range of appropriate enjoyable social activities to ensure participants remain actively engaged
You will have
- Previous experience in a similar role
- Understanding of trauma informed care in a residential setting
- First Aid Certificate
- A current VIC Drivers Licence
- Valid VIC Employee Working with Children Check
- Ability to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
