**About us**

Based in the Western Suburbs of Sydney, Custom Denning is currently on a very exciting journey when it comes to pioneering the way for locally manufactured electric vehicles in Australia. We are rapidly expanding and are currently working very closely with the NSW government to support government infrastructure plans of transitioning NSW buses from diesel to an electric fleet by 2030.

This innovative and exciting initiative is a key ingredient towards contributing to a cleaner future of transport through zero emission vehicles.

**The opportunity**

We are currently on the lookout for a passionate, enthusiastic and pragmatic Workplace Health and Safety Professional to continue driving a positive safety culture across the business and further develop our WHS framework. This will be a highly visible role within the business and will be highly rewarding and career defining as the business has very exciting growth plans for the future.

This role will be strongly supported by the leadership team and will form part of the broader people and culture team.

**Key responsibilities**
- Ensure the company’s WHS management system is compliant.
- Deliver engaging safety inductions and training programs.
- Conduct WHS site audits and facilitate improvement actions.
- Develop, implement and maintain WHS documents and material.
- Undertake risk assessments and prepare safe work practices.
- Investigate safety incidents and provide recommendations for improving the safety system and culture.
- Assist in hazard and risk identification, and the recommendation of suitable controls.
- Ensure the practical and timely resolution of WHS issues with key internal stakeholders.
- Ensure strong collaboration with all internal stakeholders.
- Recommend areas for improvement.
- Maintain WHS data and prepare reports for senior management.
- Injury, incident and near miss management.
- Assist team members in carrying out their workplace health and safety responsibilities through support, mentoring and leading by example.
- Maintain industry relationships.
- Management of pre-employment medicals.

**About you**
- At least three years’ experience in a similar role, ideally in manufacturing or in heavy industry.
- Relevant qualifications in WHS.
- Sound working knowledge of WHS legislation, Codes of Practice, etc.
- Knowledge of industry safe work practices such as manual handling, working at heights, electrical safety, working with powered machinery and equipment, working around moving vehicles, hot works, wet works, noise and hazardous chemicals, and slips, trips and falls.
- Experience working within an ISO accredited safety system is preferred.
- Effective consultation, influencing and relationship building skills.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 Suite.
- Strong collaboration and influencing skills.
