Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage a Technical Writer on a contract for 6 months.

**Position Overview**

A contractor with Defence preventive medicine/ environmental health experience is required to review, rewrite and publish the new preventative medicine manual as technical guidance materials. This will require the simplification of the manual's components into their core elements, and the alignment of the policy to modern legislative standards and practices. The new techguides will incorporate Australian legislation, Defence policy, service policies and best practices from the United States and other North Atlantic treaty Organization (NATO) nations. The current manual has had substantial draft work done, breaking it into sections for techguides but still need significant work to prepare for publishing.

During the time of the contract, the contractor is expected to:

- Re-write current ADF PM Manual into the components identified in the draft timeline (attached) coordinate and collaborate with provides Defence SMEs in order to receive feedback and make contextualized updates to current material
- Produce document IAW Defence and Joint Health Command branding and formatting
- Will advise Defence Health Policy representatives if there are any issues providing deliverables on the agreed timeline
- Work to ensure all material in the PM manual is legally defendable and in line with the most current national and/or international standards and practices

**Deliverables**:
The preventative medicine manual will be reviewed to ensure it aligns with current legislation and best practice. Elements will be simplified to make the information easier to understand and implement. The end products will be a series of technical guides outlining a modern approach to preventative medicine and force health protection (see attached examples timeline and deliverables). Note, during production we recognize that the manual may be better organized in a different way, altering the overall number of deliverables.
