**About the role**:
Reporting to UP Education’s Chief People Officer based in NZ, you will play a critical role implementing and maintaining an effective Work Health and Safety (WHS) framework, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines in Australia. This role would require some travel within Australia to various locations visiting our facilities.

Key responsibilities include:

- **Development and Implementation **of our Health and Safety Management System (HSMS) and WHS framework & procedures in alignment with Australian regulatory requirements and industry specific guidance.
- **Risk Reporting**:Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards; Prepare comprehensive risk reports to Board level, suggesting preventive measures
- **Compliance and Regulation**:Stay up to date with legislation & industry best practices in AU; Monitor compliance with relevant regulations and address non-compliance promptly
- **Training and Awareness**:Develop & deliver effective H&S training programmes for staff and contractors; Cultivate a safety-conscious culture by encouraging employees to report all health and safety incidents
- **Incident Investigation and Analysis**:Conduct thorough investigations of workplace health and safety events and recommend corrective actions.
- **Emergency Preparedness**:Collaborate with relevant teams to develop emergency response plans and procedures, ensuring employees are adequately trained

**About you**:

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Occupational Health and Safety, Workplace Health and Safety, or a related field.
- Certified WHS qualifications and additional professional certifications are highly desirable
- Proven experience in implementing and managing health and safety frameworks Australia (Safe365 preferred but not essential)
- In-depth knowledge of Australian health and safety regulatory framework, codes of practice, approved codes of practice, standards and guidance material.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and assess potential risks and hazards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong problem-solving abilities, sense of initiative, ability to work under pressure and handle confidential information with discretion
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
