**Job Description**:
A rare opportunity to join TAL as the Head of Legal - Group Life. Working flexibly from our Sydney office, in this role you will lead the TAL Group Life Legal Team to support the Group Life and Investments business units.

In this role you will:

- Manage the TAL Group Life Legal Team to provide comprehensive legal support across Group Life and Investments
- Provide strong leadership to the Group Life Legal Team by driving a culture of engagement and high performance
- Support the General Manager, Legal in advising the TAL Boards, TAL Executive Team and General Managers on legal and regulatory risks affecting the TAL business
- Support the General Manager, Legal in managing the relationship with ASIC
- Actively participate in industry groups and associations
- Be a trusted adviser to General Managers and Heads Of across Group Life and Investments
- Support the TAL business in building and maintaining strong relationships with TAL partners, including superannuation trustees
- Support the General Manager, Legal in all submissions relating to Government inquiries and proposed law reform
- Contribute to the development of the Legal Team strategy in helping to deliver the strategy and ensure it is well understood and followed by the Group Life Legal Team
- Develop practices and procedures to achieve efficiencies within the Group Life Legal Team and across the TAL businesses it supports
- Assist the General Manager, Legal and CGC with reporting to Dai-ichi, the TAL Boards and the TAL Executive Team

**Qualifications**:

- Admitted as a solicitor in Australia
- Minimum of 10 years legal experience
- Advanced knowledge of financial services law including Chapter 7 of the Corporations Act, life insurance, superannuation and financial advice
- Demonstrate leadership qualites
- Superior written and verbal communications skills
- Strong negotiating and influencing skills
- Excellent technical drafting skills
- Project management skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and escalations
