Bendigo, Australia MacKillop Family Services Full time

**About the role**

**Ready to Make a Real Difference? Join Us as an Education Specialist in Bendigo**
- (Part-time position)_

Are you passionate about transforming young lives through education? Are you looking for a meaningful role where your skills create real, lasting change?

We’re looking for a dedicated and dynamic Education Specialist to join our passionate team at MacKillop Education in Bendigo.

At MacKillop Education, our mission is simple but powerful: to champion educational equity and ensure that every vulnerable and disengaged young person has the opportunity to succeed. In this role, you won’t just teach — you’ll inspire, support, and empower.

As an Education Specialist, you’ll work closely with young people in Therapeutic Residential Care (TRC) settings — students who’ve often faced significant barriers to education. You'll build strong, trusted relationships and create learning environments that are safe, inclusive, and trauma-informed.

This is your chance to:

- Reignite a young person’s belief in their potential.
- Collaborate with allied professionals to tailor support strategies that meet each learner’s unique needs.
- Be part of a passionate, purpose-driven team that values compassion, resilience, and impact.

**Who we’re looking for**:
Someone with experience working with disengaged youth (12-17 years), especially those in out-of-home care. You’re empathetic, adaptable, and ready to meet students where they are — academically and emotionally.

**This is a Permanent Part-Time (0.6 EFT - 45.6 hours per fortnight) opportunity based in Bendigo within our MacKillop Education and Engagement Programs. The position reports to the Education Specialist Team Leader.**

**Key Selection Criteria**:
To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Appropriate experience and/or qualifications in education.
- A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people and their families.
- Experience working with children and young people who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from education.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively within a team (e.g. colleagues, professionals and other stakeholders).**For a full position listing, please click APPLY. The Position Description is available for review at the bottom of the page.**

Our Offer:

- _ Paid on-site training that contributes to your professional development._
- _ Regular supervision._
- _ Employee Assistance Program (EAP) - free and confidential counselling, coaching and emotional support for work and personal challenges._

Key Requirements:

- Valid and current Driver’s Licence;
- Satisfactory Criminal History Check (paid for by MacKillop);
- Valid Employee Working with Children Check; OR a valid VIT registration
- Valid and current NDIS Workers Screening Check

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Appropriate experience and qualifications in education.
- Experience working with children and young people who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from education.
- A sound understanding of how trauma impacts on learning.
- Experience in developing, implementing, and reviewing individual education plans.
