Based at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary (State headquarters), National Trust of Australia (Queensland) has 15 environmental, tourism and heritage sites from Currumbin to Cooktown. We are expanding rapidly with new business opportunities and a return of tourism to our properties. **The role**:
The Health, Safety and Wellbeing Business Partner will work with the National Trust Leadership Team to lead and implement existing health and safety programs as well as develop and implement the health, safety & wellbeing (HSW) strategy to instil a culture of safety & awareness, health & wellbeing across all of our sites for our team and our guests.

This full-time role will see you spend time across all of our sites (with notice) and continuously seek to improve safety performance and culture.

This role reports to the Head of People & Culture and working closely with the CEO, General Manager of Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and National Trust Head of Heritage & Environmental Services who oversees the State-wide Operations.

This role will lead the following areas:

- Lead the implementation of targeted safety and wellbeing initiatives and develop a standardised HSW framework (this includes health, safety and injury management initiatives)
- Liaise with Risk Management Consultants, Legal Professionals to advise the Leadership team of obligations and strategic mitigation of risks/risk management initiatives.
- Ensure and maintain legislative and regulatory compliance for all sites and analyse emerging trends to anticipate and manage safety and wellbeing risks. This includes reviewing and maintaining existing systems and processes to ensure they are best practice
- Be a trusted partner (to the Board and Leadership Team) and advisor in providing practical guidance and advice to establish and deliver safety standards in partnership with regional teams in driving improved safety outcomes, through a capability uplift and skill transfer
- Actively lead and participate in consultative forums and working groups
- Coach and mentor business leaders within the area of HSW and develop solutions to improve HSW performance.
- Manage the Return to Work processes for the organisation, maximising outcomes for all stakeholders.
- Provide health, safety and wellness leadership through your actions and interactions across all levels of the business

**About you**:
We’re looking for a proactive leader with great safety & influencing skills. Additionally, we’re looking for someone with the following experience:

- 5+ years’ experience successfully developing, implementing, and maintaining WHS Programs
- Relevant safety qualifications essential at minimum Cert IV level, Bachelor preferred
- Comprehensive commercial experience and knowledge of industry practices across multi-use sites
- High degree of computer literacy and presentation skills
- A driven self-starter, with the ability to work independently
- Demonstrated capability in coaching leaders and frontline workers to build knowledge and understanding of relevant health, safety and wellbeing requirements
- Excellent understanding of HSW and change management principles
- Innovative and entrepreneurial with a continuous improvement mindset
- A pragmatic approach to solving problems with the ability to drive and support transformational change
- Experience in setting up new work sites would be an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail and great organisational skills
- High levels of emotional intelligence, demonstrated effective delegation and strategy skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to conduct training to all levels across the business
- Ability to travel intrastate
