Within Retail Banking Services RBS - Everyday Banking (EDB) manages the development and delivery of all everyday banking products including transaction accounts, savings and term deposits as well as the Open Banking agenda. We provide proactive operational risk management to ensure our customers receive exceptional experiences that drive customer advocacy.

Our Line 1 Risk Chapter collaborates closely with EDB Crews to achieve strategic goals and reach and maintain an NPS of +30. We ensure comprehensive risk management by deeply understanding the business strategy, current processes, and obligations. By identifying and managing risks effectively, we provide valuable insights and prioritise improvements, ensuring all operational risk requirements are met. Our proactive approach enables us to offer advisory support, helping to design robust processes that minimize operational risks and drive business success.

This role fundamentally supports the Everyday Banking team in achieving their vision by identifying and reducing risks in the business.
This position supports the Everyday Banking team in all risk, control and compliance aspects of Line 1 risk. Key elements of the role include:
- Proactively identify risks, gaps and opportunities, and help determine pragmatic solutions to ensure EDB customer experiences are delivered with efficiency and excellence.
- Deliver comprehensive operational risks insights/advisory to aid strategic decision-making that delivers exceptional products and services.
- Manage and advise on all elements of non-financial risk frameworks to ensure risks, obligations, issues, incidents, breach reporting, change assessments and risk and control self-assessments are accurate, meet framework requirements and are of the highest quality to drive timely resolution, rectification, remediation and improvement to the risk profile.
- Facilitate effective risk governance, including leading or participating in scrum meetings with Crew Leads and Product Owners to ensure key risk items are prioritised.
- Uphold ethical conduct and compliance by understanding relevant regulatory obligations and ensuring we take reasonable steps to deliver quality customer outcomes.
- Lead a proactive risk and control culture, ensuring embedment with key project stakeholders and business representatives.
- Work collaboratively with the wider risk team to deliver best practice risk advice across the business.
- Establish performance metrics and reporting for Line 1 Risk and drive data quality in various systems (including RiskInSite and Jira) relevant to enable RBS-wide risk reporting.Identify opportunities to improve operational risk processes.

- Demonstrated experience in operational risk, compliance and or audit.
- Strong knowledge of risks, controls and compliance in a banking environment.
- Demonstrated ability to identify, analyse and reduce risks.
- Experience in managing varying levels of stakeholders and influencing outcomes.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with attention to detail and focus on accuracy.
- Experience using a risk management system and interpreting risk data and metrics.Ability to work collaboratively within a team and across business units.
