**About the Role**

As a Media Adviser, you will closely collaborate with journalists, internal teams, and external stakeholders. Your main responsibilities will include delivering engaging content on various operational and policy matters, as well as effectively communicating important network updates to facilitate transportation for Victorians.

To be considered for this role, you should have prior experience in media issues management and/or significant journalism experience. Additionally, you must demonstrate excellent writing, storytelling, relationship-building, and critical thinking skills.

**Additional Responsibilities Include**
- Demonstrated experience in media issues management, including the preparation of communications materials to respond to media enquiries
- Proven ability to proactively identify opportunities to deliver communications to promote an organisation’s objectives and achievements through a broad range of channels
- Proven ability to work as part of a team, proactively providing support to other team members as needed as well as an ability to operate independently where required
- Flexible and adaptable: Adapts systems and processes quickly to changed priorities and situations
- Working collaboratively: Guides others to create a culture of collaboration; Identifies, and works to overcome, barriers to knowledge or information sharing; Identifies opportunities to work with other teams to deliver outcomes

**Position Outcomes**
- Develop media plans and strategies for business areas, projects and programs.
- Deliver high quality media events, including developing event material, coordinating event logistics and identifying strong visual opportunities.
- Exercise professional independent judgement to identify proactive media opportunities and escalate emerging media and reputational issues and contribute to managing or mitigating them.

**Qualifications and Experience**

**Mandatory**
- An appropriate tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in journalism, public relations, communications, or a similar discipline.

**Role Specific Requirements**
- A willingness and ability to travel to locations within metropolitan and regional Victoria is required.
- A willingness and ability to work out of hours, including participating in an on-call media roster is required.
