**Position Information**:
Koonawarra Public School is located in Dapto, we have the alluring Lake Illawarra to our east and the striking escarpment to our west. Our school is situated on Dharawal Country and our authentic commitment to working towards reconciliation positions us well to develop, implement, and refine both innovative and culturally appropriate pedagogy. Staff utilise their knowledge of trauma informed education to underpin approaches in both wellbeing and learning.

There are currently 260 amazingly independent and diverse students, including 92 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students enrolled at Koonawarra PS. Our school includes the services of a NSW Health Wellbeing Nurse, Social Worker, a two stream pre-school, 9 mainstream classes, one IM, 1 Au and 1 MC class. The current FOEI is 169. We strategically use Equity funding to operationalise out of the box thinking in order to support our entire community. We work hard to ensure they are connected to all aspects of school life.

The teaching staff (P-6) at Koonawarra Public School form part of a collegial and empathetic team focused on utilising their teaching and learning expertise to support, enrich and energise each and every amazing student we are blessed to serve. In collaboration with staff and community, you will promote and strengthen a culture of high expectations and be part of the school’s epic journey towards excellence across all areas of the School Excellence Framework.

**Selection Criteria**:
1. Approval to teach students with learning and support needs (primary) and/or experience teaching students with learning and support needs in regular or support classes, demonstrating the capacity to provide specialist assistance to students with additional learning and support needs and their teachers.

2. Approval to teach K-6, with proven ability to deliver high quality, differentiated literacy and numeracy programs, using evidence-informed practices, assessment strategies and data analysis to improve student outcomes and growth.

3. Demonstrated capacity and willingness to embed authentic Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and perspectives into all teaching and learning programs.

4. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with the capacity to work collaboratively and inclusively in teams and build positive relationships with students, staff, parents/carers and the wider community.

5. Ability to work calmly, yet effectively, in pressured contexts with a thorough understanding of evidence based strategies that support students with diverse social, emotional and academic needs.
