**About the role**:
A vacancy exists in the above unit for a highly motivated Counsellor/Social Worker/Psychologist with appropriate knowledge and skills to join our friendly and supportive team. Our progressive and innovative team offers development opportunities for our staff and a caring environment for the delivery of high quality patient centred care. The successful applicant will be expected to deliver high quality, professional treatment to people who use stimulants including methamphetamine, cocaine and GHB.
Primarily employed as a Counsellor in the Stimulant Treatment Program, the position is required to contribute to all domains of Stimulant Services including the S-Check Program, Drop-in clinic and group programs. The role is responsible for delivering ongoing therapeutic counselling sessions conducting psychosocial and mental health assessments; intake/assessment consultations; brief interventions and facilitating therapeutic groups.

- Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia
2. Relevant tertiary qualifications in psychology, social work, counselling or other relevant behavioural sciences and eligibility for membership of the relevant professional association.
3. Demonstrated experience with drug and alcohol clients that have complex needs using a range of therapeutic modalities.
4. Demonstrated clinical skills in assessment, brief interventions with clients experiencing drug and alcohol problems and co-existing mental health issues.
5. Demonstrated understanding of the health and social issues affecting people who use drugs, and the contemporary treatment approaches to addressing these.
6. Demonstrated understanding of harm reduction and strengths based approaches in working with substance use.
7. Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication as well as interpersonal skills.
8. High level computer skills: Microsoft Office, Patient Record Systems.
