**About the role**:
Reporting to the Team Leader, Environment Protection, the Environment Protection Officer is a member of a team responsible for EPA's on-ground regulatory response in the region, including education, compliance monitoring and inspections, and managing non-compliance via regulatory notices and enforcement action. You will use your initiative to prioritise tasks and monitor workflow in delivering frontline regulatory operations, aligned to EPA's strategic priorities, to prevent harm to Victorian communities and the environment from pollution and waste.

**Duties**
- Building capability and relationships with local government and EPA.
- Responding to small-to-medium scale pollution reports.
- Building and maintaining community perceptions about EPA and local government in responding to small scale pollution.
- Ensuring industry compliance with their environmental obligations.
- Increase proactive, preventative, and strategic measures to prevent pollution.

**Skills and experience**
- Effective stakeholder management experience
- Knowledge of contemporary techniques for the conduct of proactive and reactive investigations
- Demonstrated capability to plan, monitor and deliver projects/programs
- Ability to work independently with remote supervision
- A broad understanding of environmental regulation as it relates to pollution and waste is desirable.
