Based in Sydney, the Sustainability Master Planner will help in the creation of highly innovative and sustainable "community spaces and places". **About the role**: As a Sustainability Master Planner, you will be responsible for developing sustainability visions, identifying, and recommending appropriate sustainable design initiatives, leading detailed feasibility studies, and providing general ESD consulting for large-scale place and precinct projects. You will also provide ESD consulting on other kinds of projects, typically early-stage building concept designs and building portfolio sustainability strategies. - Working closely with great architects, urban designers, engineers, and clients to shape a more sustainable world. - Contribute, develop, and integrate sustainable design measures within landscape and place projects in Australia and overseas. - Creation of documents which concisely communicate sustainable design integration and compliance for planning submissions. - Manage aspects of master planning projects, with support from project leaders. - Conduct technical environmental studies. - Manage assurance programs like Green Star and WELL Community. - Create explanatory diagrams, illustrations, and text. - Guide graduate staff in technical tasks. - Develop local expertise in technical design practices and share that knowledge with the global team. **Benefits**: - An extremely competitive salary, commensurate with your experience (recent salary reviews have seen large increases, to remain an industry leader for pay) - Exciting project work with substantial project responsibilities. - Collaborative planning and design opportunities with leading sustainability thinkers and design practitioners. - Broad industry exposure including international work opportunity. - A flexible work environment - Flexible working options. And flexibility of the office spaces themselves, with low light and noise rooms, private meeting rooms and communal areas. - Excellent opportunities for further training and career growth - The company encourages you to develop your own skills too and will support your development towards becoming a Senior Designer. - They will also support your participation in professional and client organisations, teaching, and thought leadership activities. - Enthusiastic workmates, insightful mentors, and our global network of sustainability experts. **Who are you**: - Experience in master planning or urban design projects. - Knowledge of the property development environment, trends in place-making, life cycle assessments & embodied carbon calculations. - Experience with sustainability bench-marking tools (Green Star, WELL, Climate Active, etc). - You will collaboratively solve problems with project teams, and you will effectively communicate the design implications of innovative environmental strategies. - You're proactive, self-motivated, a team player, and comfortable taking responsibility across multiple sustainable master planning projects. - You get excited about learning new things and enjoy sharing your skills and knowledge across the company. **Necessary Qualifications**: - Master's degree or equivalent 5-yr Bachelor's degree in a field related to environmental or sustainable building design, architecture, urban design, planning, or engineering. - 3+ year's experience in an ESD, environmental design, sustainable built environment consulting, urban design or master planning role. - Understanding of NSW planning policy, pathways, and documentation requirements. - Excellent graphic, verbal, and written communication skills.
