The Department for Environment and Water (DEW) invests in South Australia’s future social, environmental and economic prosperity and well-being. Aiming to be a flexible, responsive, and influential adviser to Government, DEW delivers high quality policy and programs across a range of portfolios. Critical to its success is the Environment, Heritage and Sustainability Division, which drives key policy and action, protecting built and natural heritage, whilst supporting climate change adaptation and mitigation. The Climate Change, Flood Management and Coast business units within the division aim to deliver a resilient Adelaide and South Australia for future generations.

As Manager, Coast you will lead and manage a team of technical and administrative specialists to support the Coastal Protection Board (CPB) and implement the
_Coast Protection Act 1972. _Working in conjunction with the Climate Change unit and the Flood Management unit, the Coast team undertake a policy and management function. Supporting the CPB on a diverse range of issues and projects including development assessments and major sand replenishment projects, the team works to ensure a safe and sustainable approach to beach management and coastal environment.

A leader of both technical and non-technical people, you will empower and motivate your team and showcase experience of leading through change and reform. You will represent the Coast business unit and DEW to the CPB, internal and external stakeholders, the Minister, media, the community at large and all landscape management partners, maintaining the integrity of the unit and DEW in your dealings. Prior experience in the provision of advice concerning the development and implementation of high-profile projects for strategic, planning, legislative and business reform purposes is essential for success in the role. Tertiary qualifications in environment, biological science or natural resource management are desirable, complimented by in-depth knowledge of the protection and conservation of coastal environments.
