**Position Information**:
Lawson Public School is geographically situated in the World Heritage listed, Blue Mountains of New South Wales. Our school comprises 8 mainstream classes and 4 classes in our support unit. Lawson Public School has a current enrolment of 195 students. 6% of the school population is from an English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) background and 25 students identify as being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background. The staff at Lawson Public School, are both professional and dedicated to, providing data informed, evidence-based quality learning programs that catering to the individual learning needs of each child. Our students come from a broad range of backgrounds and we strive to partner with each family to ensure that each child is known, valued and cared for. Lawson is a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) school. PBL brings together the whole school community to contribute to developing a positive, safe and supportive learning culture. The framework assists schools to improve social, emotional, behavioural and academic outcomes for children and young people.
**Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary
1. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a dynamic team, balancing exemplary classroom practice with the complexities of a leadership role whilst driving continuous improvement in line with the Strategic Improvement Plan.
2. Strong behaviour management practices with the capacity to support peers in teaching, learning and classroom practice including implementation of differentiated programs in literacy and numeracy.
3. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills inclusive of all staff including new and experienced teachers, parents, carers, outside agencies to support the academic and wellbeing needs of students across the entire school setting.
4. Demonstrated ability to lead whole school Learning and Support programs and interventions to meet the complex needs of all students.
5. Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively with teachers, parents and the local Aboriginal community to model and support engagement, wellbeing, attendance, and cultural identity.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
- 2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs- 3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams- 4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents- 5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning- 6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies**Conditions**:
