a. Must fulfill Government background checks to qualify for an ASIC (Aviation Security Identification Card);
b. Must be able to secure appropriate airport authority and/or Customs security badges, if applicable;
c. Writes effective communications (e.g., Mission, Tenets, PR/FAQ, etc.), influence and negotiate priorities, determines where to simplify or extend solutions for the best outcome, and drives Kaizens and other best practices;
d. Evangelizes Amazon Leadership Principles;
e. Ability to work flexible hours to meet business needs;
f. Bachelor degree or 7+ years of experience in a security related field;
g. 7+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following disciplines: aviation security, aviation regulatory or transportation/supply chain operations;
h. 7+ years as a security manager;
i. 7+ years of experience in a customer service driven environment;
j. 7+ years of experience conducting workplace risk assessments;
k. Knowledge and/or experience with x-ray technology;
m. Effectively hires, manages performance, coaches, and promotes.
Key job responsibilities
A day in the life
a. Managing the development, implementation, review and maintenance of Amazon’s AvSec operations in Australia;
b. Owning AvSec launch functions;
c. Making recommendations in the development of policies, standards and procedures;
d. Overseeing employees and contractors. Ensuring they have the knowledge and skills to perform their roles;
e. Liaising with Government and industry;
f. Investigating regulatory violations and utilizing the Security Management System to identify root cause. Developing mitigating actions to reduce risk;
g. Leading the Quality Control of Australia AvSec operations inclusive of training, risk management, performance standards and resource development;
h. Reporting and monitoring aviation security incidents and threats.
About the team
The Aviation Security and Regulatory Compliance (AvSec) team is responsible for security, loss prevention, and regulatory compliance at Amazon. The organization is built with four core pillars; Security Management Systems, Programs and Quality Assurance, Security Operations, and Credentialing. The Team is committed to identifying and mitigating risk to people, Amazon assets, Amazon brand and regulatory compliance. The foundation of the organization and the risk mitigation and continuous improvement programs, are built on the principles of a robust Security Management Systems (SeMS).
a. Master’s degree in a related field or MBA;
b. Certification(s) in Security Operations;
c. 7+ years of aviation security experience;
d. 7+ years of Aviation Regulatory Security Compliance experience, specifically with a civil aviation authority;
e. Strong leadership skills and knowledge; ability to influence change and drive desired outcomes in a matrix structured organization;
f. Ability to independently manage through ambiguity and handle changing priorities, to effectively prioritize, multitask, and exercise good judgment; (CPP, PSP or CFE certification);
g. Experience with physical security control and/or surveillance systems;
h. Lean Six Sigma and/or Green/Black Belt Certified - Interviewing and Interrogation experience desired - Workplace investigation certification (Wicklander-Zulawski certification);
i. Workplace Violence and/or Business Continuity experience.
