Participate Australia (PA) has been supporting people with disabilities since 1983, previously as Family Resource and Networks Support Incorporated (FRANS). In March 2017, our organisation undertook a transfer to a company limited by guarantee under the new name, Participate Australia.

Purpose of the Role

Participate Australia has been engaged to provide 24/7 support to 15 residents in a purpose-built accommodation complex located in Ryde, NSW. Support Workers will support our residents to ensure they have real choice and control within their home and to meet their ongoing support needs.

**Role Responsibilities**
- Providing care in a safe and responsible way, focusing on the individual’s abilities
- Being responsible for documentation and administrative tasks as directed by Team Leader
- Taking responsibility for the daily activities of residents (including medication, shopping, medical needs, personal care, cooking, cleaning and finances)
- To support residents to meet their NDIS Goals
- Promoting a positive image of people with disabilities in our community
- Having an awareness and being sensitive to the different needs and values of residents, families and carers
- Driving vehicles during service delivery in a safe and responsible manner
- Administering first aid/medication when required
- Encouraging skill development, freedom of choice, empowerment and independence of residents
- Working within Participate Australia policies and procedures
- Attending relevant meetings and training as required (including All Ins)
- Maintaining confidentiality of all Participate Australia organisational and participant information
- Meeting Work Health and Safety requirements as listed over page
- Involve residents in decision-making and encourage independence
- Ensure the rights of residents are considered and respected
- Provide the resident with personal care as required
- Other duties as reasonably requested.
- Ready to start early morning shifts which commence at 6:30 am whenever required

**Role Requirements**

**Essential**
- Experience working with people with disabilities
- Hold a strong commitment to enhancing the lives of people with disabilities and their families
- High level of problem-solving skills
- Ability to be proactive and use initiative
- Availability to work flexible hours
- Current first aid certificate
- Working With Children Check
- Current NDIS Worker Check
- Hold a current NSW driver’s license (min. P2, i.e. Green P).

**Desirable**
- Working knowledge of the Disability Service Standards and the Home & Community Care Program Standards,
- Certificate III in Community Services
