**The opportunity**

CSIRO Mineral Resources’ Green Metals Production group are seeking an enthusiastic Laboratory Technician to join the Process Development team.

**Your high-level duties will include**:

- Assisting in the operation and maintenance of experimental equipment and laboratory procedures in the Process Development and High Temperature Chemistry teams.
- Under guidance from Project Leaders, participate in laboratory and pilot scale experimental work in the area of mineral processing and green metal production.
- Contributing to collecting data and preparing reports for internal customers.
- Communicating effectively and respectfully with all staff, clients and suppliers in the interests of good business practice, collaboration and enhancement of CSIRO’s reputation.
- Working collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team to carry out tasks in support of CSIRO scientific objectives.

**Salary**: AU$73k - AU$93k per annum (pro rata for part-time), plus 15.4% superannuation

**Essential**
- Relevant trade certificate/diploma or equivalent relevant work experience in a scientific laboratory or mechanical engineering/trades.
- Demonstrated experience in relevant laboratory or engineering fields.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and with a team to meet deadlines, use resources well, adjust to changes, and consistently deliver quality work.
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills demonstrated by an ability to comprehend and convey detailed instructions/procedures.
- Demonstrated competence in the use of computer software including the Microsoft Office suite of programs: Word and Excel in particular.

**Desirable**
- Forklift driver licence.
- Computer aided design skills.
- Load slinging/load lifting training.
- Work experience in the minerals industry.
