The role of the Category Manager, Packaging, is to develop and execute best in class procurement initiatives in order to drive effective sourcing strategies and contract management aligned with the Opal Group strategic priorities and business needs.

You will contribute to the success of Opal by:

- Lead the development and execution of the Packaging category strategy, to ensure performance targets are set and achieved
- Ensure appropriate initiative pipeline is managed and maintained for all major packaging categories.
- Mitigate business risk through a comprehensive supplier accreditation framework to incorporate social/ethical, safety, technical, quality and commercial standards.
- Ensure compliance to the Opal Strategic Sourcing Framework, with clear stakeholder engagement, communication and cross-functional leadership.
- Develop strong and effective working relationships with internal business stakeholders to enable successful delivery of the agreed procurement strategy
- Provide expert, authoritative advice to key stakeholders on all aspects of procurement strategy and practice to inform business planning and action
- As category expert, provide the business with expertise into market conditions and dynamics

Specifically for this role, we expect you will have;
- Relevant degree or diploma - Engineering, Finance, Supply Chain Management or Commerce
- Minimum 8 years relevant procurement and supply chain experience
- Obtaining, analysing and drawing conclusions from complex business and market data
- Excellent negotiation and influencing skills
- Supplier Management & Development
