**About the Role**:
We are looking for an **experienced and compassionate support worker** to work with a bright and energetic 8-year-old NDIS participant living with Autism (Level 2), ADHD, and anxiety.
Support is required:
- **Before school**:
- **After school**:
- **On weekends**
This role involves assisting with self-care routines, emotional and sensory regulation, and safe community participation. You'll be part of a broader care team including occupational therapists, psychologists, and behaviour specialists.
This is a **high-impact role** suited to someone confident, nurturing, emotionally resilient, and committed to creating a safe, structured, and engaging environment for children with complex support needs.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Support daily self-care routines including dressing, toileting, hygiene, and feeding
- Assist with school transitions (mornings and afternoons)
- Implement strategies from allied health professionals, including OT and behaviour specialists
- Promote emotional regulation and support sensory needs
- Supervise safely during community access and recreational activities
- Facilitate social interaction and participation in meaningful activities
- Maintain clear and professional progress notes and communication records
- Liaise regularly with family, professionals, and internal team members
- Contribute to team planning and continuous improvement efforts
- Follow organisational policies, including health, safety, privacy, and client rights
**Essential Criteria**:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in disability support (children and complex needs)
- Certificate IV in Disability or equivalent (required)
- First Aid and CPR (required)
- Working with Children Check - Employer version (required)
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (required)
- National Criminal History Check (within 6 months) (required)
- NDIS Worker Orientation Certificate (required)
- Infection Control Training - COVID-19 (required)
- Full Driver’s Licence and access to a **reliable, comprehensively insured vehicle**:
- Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (three doses including booster)
- Strong interpersonal skills with a sense of humour, empathy, and patience
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Demonstrated ability to follow behaviour support plans and therapy goals
- Flexibility to work early mornings, after school, and weekends
**Desirable Skills & Experience**:
- Knowledge of sensory processing needs or the Zones of Regulation
- Familiarity with Positive Behaviour Support Plans
- Experience supporting children through school transitions or community activities
- Physical activity program background (e.g., play-based therapy, sports, movement-based programs)
- Experience working with children with trauma backgrounds
- Confident working independently while reporting regularly to a team
