**Manager - Food Production, Development and Innovation**

**About Bedford**
Bedford changes the lives of people with disability by building capacity, independence, and wellbeing. Key to the success of Social Enterprise is the ability to deliver suitably qualified individuals through to a capacity to source open employment opportunities.
**The Role**
This full time, permanent leadership role requires oversight across all Bedford Hospitality Operations, predominantly based at the Brooklyn Park facility. Based within the Social Enterprise Team, reporting to the Divisional Manager of Hospitality Services, you will be responsible for the safe, productive, and compliant operation of the central production kitchen as well as influencing outcomes across all other Bedford Hospitality operations. This position will be responsible for oversight of multiple shift patterns. An exceptional communicator will see success in this role. Mentoring and leading the team of supervisors to positively influence the outcomes of the broader development plan for large group of apprentices and employees working across the network of current and future venues.
This role is an essential component to the growth Strategy of the Hospitality, food, and beverage service line. The ability to identify trends and opportunity within this space is required. Given the pace of growth predicted, the ability to manage multiple priorities at the same time will ensure alignment to team success.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage and operate a bulk food production facility, delivering multiple meal solutions across several platforms from ready meals to bulk product.
- Maintaining standards in line with HACCP, Food Act 2001 (SA) and Food Industry Standards
- Product development, Continual innovation, financial analysis, and recipe method creation.
- Manage large teams of kitchen staff, promote high performance and team culture, inclusion, and accountability.
- Mentor, coach, and train to maintain work health and safety best practice.
- Management of the procurement function, supplier assessment, Stock control, budget management to achieve KPIs.
- Assist in development planning for additional facilities, enhancing the footprint of the Hospitality service line.
**About You**
You take pride in your work, are solutions focused, comfortable interpreting data, passionate about food, and experienced in the food production industry. You are highly skilled in all areas of kitchen operation, from finance and reporting through to production scheduling and rostering. You have ability to lead from the front, in a 'hands-on' manner as required, with a strong focus on promoting teamwork, people's development, and training. An ability to look at current business practice through an entrepreneurial lens will ensure the successful applicant exceeds expectation.
Other skills and qualities:
- Highly experienced in bulk food production, plaining, and managing KPIs and growth strategies.
- Experience in lean methodology and evolving current procedures
- Demonstrated capability in business plan development
- Ability to build and maintain high level stakeholder relationships
- Proven skills and experienced in people leadership and develop a positive team culture
- Strong financial capability including development of reporting for KPIs, budgeting and costing
- Certificate III Commercial Cookery certificate or equivalent qualifications essential
- Significant experience managing a Food Safety Management Plan
- MBA, business management, Hotel Management, Logistics, and planning qualifications highly desirable.
