**About this role**

The System Performance division provides a single ‘source of truth’ regarding progress towards the achievement of the department’s strategic objectives and has a lead role in developing an evidence-based culture and strategy capability. As part of the division, the Data Reporting and Analytics directorate is responsible for ensuring that information and evidence is used effectively across the Department for Education and undertakes data collection, data analysis, performance reporting and data systems training. The directorate ensures that strategic data assets are of high quality and relevant to the delivery of the department’s strategic agenda.

The Performance Analyst plays a key role in planning, designing, and undertaking robust and high-quality analysis and advice, assessing, understanding, and communicating the implications of data and evidence to a range of education stakeholders and audiences and identifying and defining the nature of current gaps in evidence or new opportunities to improve information and reporting products.

**What you will do**
- Plan, design and deliver a range of high-level research and continuous improvement projects to meet future system and business requirements, including collaborating with product development teams in the provision of critical business intelligence analysis.
- Identify and evaluate complex and sensitive reporting and data requirements and performance assessment frameworks and products to determine appropriate analysis methodologies and data sets relevant to that inform and guide the continual improvement and performance of business functions and programs across the agency.
- Prepare and operationalise appropriate tools, system services, environments, data sets, processes, and documentation to maintain the integrity, assurance and supply of performance data and reports, and ensure training sessions are provided to stakeholders to facilitate the understanding of performance data and assessment processes.
- Provide complex data extraction, transformation, and interrogation expertise to deliver complex evidence-based business intelligence (Bl) projects, products and services including developing and implementing data definition specifications, writing queries, identifying, and mitigating risks, and developing, revising, and adhering to efficient and effective Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) standards.
- Provide support for performance and measurement processes to ensure opportunities and outcomes are identified and incorporated into the performance assessment framework and updated business reporting requirements, and high-level reports, briefing papers, documents, strategic plans, information, correspondence, and responses relating to complex reporting matters are researched and provided.
- Develop and maintain positive and effective relationships and networks with key stakeholders including delivering expert advice and information to support Department for Education Executive, management, site leaders and other staff in the interpretation and use of performance and measurement reporting.
- Deliver relevant and specialised consultancy services relating to data, government processes, systems, strategic issues, policy, and program development including providing specialised guidance to staff across the workgroup, which supports the determination of priorities and ensures that programs, projects, services, and products meet agreed quality and performance objectives.
