Your Role

To accomplish this, you bring thoughtful knowledge to clients and will convey a keen understanding of Ciena’s complete value solutions across products and services, delivery, support, quality, and expertise. In addition, you will help navigate the comprehensive challenges involved in the design and implementation of complex next generation networks.

Your Responsibilities
- Provides consulting services to the customer for the integration of Ciena products into the customer’s operational model.
- Collaborate with pre-sales and product line team in preparing network solution, design, architecture, reconfiguration methodology, and implementation for intended customer networks
- Build High Level Design (HLD) and Low Level Design (LLD) for Network Deployments and ensure proposed designs and/or solutions are technically viable and meet customer requirements.
- Conduct Proof of Concept (PoC) for customers.
- Conducts Ciena product hardware and software tests and validations.
- Develop and execute customized Customer Acceptance Test Procedures (CATP).
- Leads all product regression and type testing prior to project/product deployment.
- Design, develop and implement network expansion and/or service migration strategy to ensure network availability and resiliency.
- Own the delivery of Network Engineering documentation for Customers via the Detailed Network Design service offering and oversee partner personnel who may be delivering a portion or all of the engineering package.
- Hold customer reviews and drive dry runs of custom methods of procedures prior to field execution
- Oversees and guides all field activity related to the execution of custom methods of procedure. Validates that the actions taken by the assigned field personnel are executed properly as per the steps detailed in the custom method of procedure.
- Ensures the customer’s network is operating in a stable state as designed before, during and after Maintenance Window activities. Verifies that no additional alarms exist on the network after completion of procedure.
- Performs hardware and software installation and upgrades at customer premises
- Provide solutions to customer network operational issues and propose improvements.
- Performs network audits or diagnostics either as a stand-alone service or as a precursor to implementation of reconfiguration activities.
- Develops configuration as well as service-layer and infrastructure-layer provisioning engineering documentation
- Design, develop, and test bespoke templates or scripts for customers.
- Delivers local training to Ciena customers in ANZ region when required.
- Provides real-world insight into our customer’s experience with Ciena products and identifies opportunities for improvement
- Advocate for product enhancements or bespoke professional services that create more value to our customer’s business.
- Provide mentoring and coaching to Network Engineers within the team on new technological concepts, products and provide them support on troubleshooting critical issues.
- Minimum Requirements
- You should bring to the organization the following competencies:

- In depth technical and working knowledge of Optical (OTN/DWDM) and Data Networking, Switching (OTN/SDH/PDH) and Carrier Ethernet (IP/MPLS) technologies.
- Knowledge and/or experience working on Segment routing, IGP/BGP routing, EVPN and other network architectures
- In depth technical knowledge of telecommunications network architectures, protocols, and management platforms.
- Knowledge and experience working with UNIX/Linux/RHEL/Ubuntu and/or any other server OS, be it on bare metal and/or Virtual Machine, and system admin functions.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills associated with service provider, enterprise and carrier networks and corresponding software solutions.
- Critical Thinking / Analysis: Analyzes Multi-dimensional problems
- Strong ability to work as part of a team or independently with little supervision.
- Technical Expertise - Demonstrates a breadth of knowledge across all Ciena's product portfolio and customer requirements and standards
- Customer oriented technical advocate - Partners with the customer and adds value for the customer to ensure outstanding customer experience.
- Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation). Can articulate quality issues in written reports and during internal customer meetings.
